Written Aug 17, 1674 In the name of God Amen the seventeenth day of August in the six and twentieth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of God of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland Kinge defender of the ffaith &c: Annoq domini 1674 I William Taylor of Oxton in the County of Nottingham yeoman beinge of p[er]fect minde and memory (praised bee God) yet consideringe the frailty and incertainty of this mortall life doe make and ordaine this my last will and testamt: in manner and fforme followinge (that is to say) ffirst and principally I com[m]end my soule into the handes of Almighty God my maker and creator trustinge through the merritts of Jesus Christ my alone savio[ur] to have full p[ar]don and remission of all my sinnes and to inheritt eternall life and my body I com[m]itt to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named and for that worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to blesse me I doe give and dispose thereof as ffolloweth ffirst I give and bequeath unto Susanna my loveinge wife all my house and landes with the app[ur]tenances scituate lyinge and beinge in Oxton aforesaid for and duringe the terme of her naturall life And from and after her decease I give and bequeath the same house and landes with the appurtenances unto William Taylor my sonne and his heires for ever p[ro]vided alwayes and my will and minde is that if my said sonne William Taylor shall dep[ar]t this life before he attaine the age of one and twenty yeares and without issue of his body lawfully begotten then I give and bequeath all my said house and landes with the app[ur]tenances in Oxton aforesaid unto the children of my brother in law Jervas Cullen late of Upton deceased (that is to say) unto Thomas Cullen, Jervas Cullen, Mary Cullen, Deborah Cullen, Katherine Cullen and Sarah Cullen to be equally devided amongst them and their heires for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto the said children of my brother in law Jervas Cullen deceased the sume of tenne poundes to be equally devided amongst them and paid within one yeare after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Thomas Taylor the sum[m]e of five shillinges. Item I give and bequeath unto every one of my ffather in lawes children twelve pence a peece. Item I give and bequeath unto my said sonne William Taylor the sum[m]e of fforty poundes to be paid him when he shall attaine the age of one and twenty yeares. All the rest of my goodes and chattells not before bequeathed my debts and ffunerall expenses beinge p[ai]d and p[er]fformed I give and bequeath unto Susanna my loveinge wife whome I doe make and ordaine sole Executrix of this my last will and Testam[en]t. In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare ffirst above written.
