1. In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Cullen of Upton near
2. Southwell in ye county of Nott yeoman do make my last will &
3. Testament in manner and forme following. Whereas upon my
4. marriage with my last wife I did surrender one moyety 1 or halfe
5. part of all my copyhold 2 messuages 3 lands tenements 4 and hereditaments 5
6. that I then was seised of. To ye use of my selfe and wife in Taile 6
7. Which said Entaile 7 I have ye day of the date hereof dockt 8 by a Recovery
8. according to ye custom of ye Mannor of Southwell aforesaid so that now
9. I am seized of all my Copy hold estate in ffee 9 simple. Therefore I do give
10. and devise the same in manner and forme following (that is to say)
11. All that my messuage in Upton aforesaid now in my possession and all ye
12. houses outhouses crofts 10 yards orchards and gardens there unto belonging
13. and all those lands tenements and hereditaments that are mortgaged
14. to Mr Story for one hundred pounds as also all those that are
15. mortgaged to Mr Lowe and ye Equitable right of
16. redemption thereof, and ye church leys 11 close 12, and Bull close, and all
17. ye arable land hereafter ment(i)oned lying in the East ffeild 14 of Upton
18. (vizt. 13) two lands on Micle barrow 14, ye land of ye heirs of mr. Trueman
19. lying between them, containing one acre, one land on poolands going
20. over ye beck 15 containing about three roods 16, one land containing about
21. three roods at ye high thorne, one land containing one acre going down
22. to ye springs, one headland at England ditch containing halfe an acre,
23. one land containing halfe an acre at quick springs, two lands cont(aining)
24. three roods called broadarses, one land on little cross hill containing
25. halfe an acre, and one selion 17 in the pingle 18 containing one rood. And
26. the arable land hereafter ment(i)oned in ye Middle ffeild 14 vizt. ffoure
27. lands in peak willow nook containing two acres, ffoure lands near
28. Howbards dale 19 cont(aining) one acre, two lands near ye new close side containing
29. one acre, two lands going down to Lamb hedg(e) on red lands containing ffive
30. roods, Gunthorp east and Gibson west, one land on ye cliff containing
31. three roods, ye vicars land lying on both sides. And all ye arable

2. one acre on ye Cliffe ffurlong 20, ffoure lands on ye same ffurlong containing
3. one acre, one land or lea on Brick Kilne Line lands 74 containing halfe an acre, one land in
4. priesting containing three roods, and one ley in Mill holme 21 Leys within Greeting
5. being meadow, containing one acre. And halfe an acre in Greeting meadow abutting
6. on ye pouches, halfe an acre in the church meadow near the Bank Mr Alvey east,
7. halfe an acre in ye Bulls mr Jenison south halfe an acre in ye church meadow close
8. ye towns meadow west, halfe an acre at ye far end of ye east meadow Mr
9. Alvey south and ffoure cow gates according to ye old stint 22, and all yt 23
10. my close at Bottesford in ye county of Leicester, all and singular
11. which said premisses I give and devise to my oldest son Thomas Cullen
12. his heirs and assigne(e)s charged and changable with ye payment of the severall
13. sums of mon(e)y hereafter ment(i)oned that is to say to each of my ffoure
14. daughters ye sum of ffifteen pounds of good mon(e)y to be paid to them
15. at their respective ages of one and twenty years or marriage,
16. and ten shillings a peice yearly to each of them till ye same be payable.
17. Item 24 I give and devise all yt 23 my Cottage at Upton town end, and all
18. other any lands tenements and hereditaments in Upton aforesaid
19. or elsewhere, (not before in this my will devised) To my yo(u)ngest son
20. John Cullen his heirs and assigne(e)s, charged and chargable nevertheless
21. with ye payment of ye like sums of ffifteen pounds apeice of good
22. mon(e)y to each of my ffour daughters at their severall ages of
23. one and twenty years or marriage with power for my daughters to
24. enter into all ye afore said premisses for non paym(en)t, and I devise that if any
25. of my daughters dye before their legacys becom(e) due, that her part
26. so dying shall not go to ye other sisters, but be for ye benefit of him out of
27. whose estate it should be paid. Item all my goods cattle and chattells
28. of what kind soever I give to my ffoure daughters equally to be
29. divided amongst them, and if any of them happen to dye before
30. their age of ffourteen years then ye part of such so dying

1. To be equally divided amongst the surviveing sisters. And whereas I
2. have lately borrowed of Mr Andrews of Southwell aforesaid the sum
3. of fforty pounds for Which I have made a Mortgage of severall
4. Lands and tenements therein ment(i)oned Which said Mortgage I do
5. hereby ratify and confirme. I do likewise by this my Will devise
6. and appoint that all my just debts be honestly paid as well those
7. that I do now owe as those that I shall hereafter owe upon
8. Mortgages or any otherwayse howsoever. And lastly I make my
9. eldest daughter Elizabeth, my brother Gervas Cullen, & my cousin
10. William Robinson the yo(u)nger of Nottingham fframe work knitter
11. joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament and do hereby
12. revoake all former wills by me made. In Witness whereof I the
13. aforesaid Thomas Cullen have to this my last Will put my hand and
14. seale the thirti(e)th day of April Anno Dni 1715
